Super Hero Day
June 7 was designated as Super Hero Day at Cochran Academy and we have MANY! We have the best students, teachers, staff and administrators in the world. They may not fly or fight crime but they do have super powers and they are phenomenal!

International Day

East Orange is such a diverse community that we wanted to share our differences and learn from one another. May 23rd we celebrated International Day with good food, great music and beautiful apparel.  Students and staff were encouraged to come to school dressed in their favorite cultural attire.
Parents, staff and students were invited to a delicious luncheon featuring foods from around the world.

Law Day

A few 4th grade students had an opportunity to share with their peers, teachers, administrators, parents and distinguish guests an interactive presentation of an actual courtroom scene.  The students were coached and advised by their Legal Study teacher, Patricia Hurt.  Each year students are encouraged to participate in 'Law Day'. Law Day is a day where students demonstrate their knowledge of the many facets of a courtroom.  Beginning with a bailiff down to the jury.  Students are assigned parts and act out the case scenario in front of an audience and the audience become the jurors and decides the fate of the defendent.   This year the case was called 'Who's the Thief at Games 4-U?' originally published by the Essex Vicinage Law Day 2013 Committee.   Cochran was extremely lucky to have distinguish guests from the community such as The Honorable Alfred Slocum, Judge of the East Orange Municipal Court, Theodore Stephens, Esq and Joseph Cicalalaw, Esq. to participate.
